Second Week of Youth Soccer Month Focuses on Fun!

This week’s Youth Soccer Month message is Fun. Whether recreational or competitive in nature, involvement in soccer is easy, affordable and rewarding. So this week get out on the fields and play a game of soccer with your friends or family. Teamwork and good sportsmanship are only two of the many skills children will learn while playing a fun game of soccer.

Cutters Jamboree and Dynamo Soccerathon Focus on Fun

The Cutters Jamboree was held September 2-3, 2007 in Bloomington, Indiana and featured U9-U12 boys and girls teams. Team participants received a free ticket to Sunday's “adidas/IU Credit Union Classic” soccer invitational matches at Yeagley Field in Armstrong Stadium at Indiana University. The weekend-event drew thousands of players, parents, coaches and teams to the Bloomington area. The city of Bloomington and Monroe County both issued proclamations at the IU game in honor of Youth Soccer Month. To read more about the event, see the link below.

The Dynamo Soccerathon was held on Sunday, September 9th in Indianapolis, Indiana. This event offered players an afternoon of fun, fast-paced, 3 v 3 soccer, prizes, and a club picnic as part of an annual clubwide and community outreach fundraiser. This year's event featured proclamations issued by the city of Indianapolis and the MSD Washington Township School District.

Celebrate the FUN of Youth Soccer

There are a number of ways to involve your community in fun soccer activities. Start a fundraiser or have a picnic at your local park. You can feature games, have juggling contests, or offer free lessons and workshops, just to name a few. Having different awards for these events also add to the excitement. By inviting your local radio/TV stations to cover the event you will have to ability to reach out to more of your community.

Recognizing the impact and importance the sport of soccer plays in the day-to-day lives of America’s families, US Youth Soccer, with 3.2 million members, the nation’s largest youth sports association, is spreading the fifth Youth Soccer Month- Celebrating Soccer in America, this September.
