Of the Region II ODP Pool players, one Indiana Youth Soccer player Perry Kitchen (92 Boys - Indianapolis) has been invited into residency for training with the U15 US National Team. Indiana Youth Soccer Director of Education Vince Ganzberg explained that this is an incredible honor and opportunity for only the most elite, dedicated players. Congratulations!

In the Indiana ODP system, over 1000+ players attend district trainings across the state to be identified and invited to participate at the state pool level. Next, the identified state pool players train together throughout the fall and winter, competing for the Indiana ODP State Team positions in each age group. Over the late spring and summer, the ODP State Team players train and attend Regional Camp in an effort to be invited to participate at the Regional Pool level.

US Youth Soccer is divided into four regions which offer a regional camp for state association ODP teams in each eligible age group. The camps are designed to provide high level competition and training for participating players. During this training and competition, players who are capable of performing at a higher level of play are identified for possible national team camp, pool, or team participation. The camp concludes with tournament play among all participating regional ODP state association teams and identification or hold-over for regional pool players.

The Region II camp included teams from 13 other state associations in the Midwest. This year, two Indiana ODP state teams won their respective camp tournaments - the 90 Girls Indiana ODP State Team and the 92 Boys Indiana ODP State Team. The 92 Boys went undefeated (5-0, beating rival Michigan 1-0. The 90 Boys Indiana State ODP team advanced to the semi-final round, losing to Illinois in kicks from the mark. Congratulations to all three teams!

The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition; to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels; and, through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.
