Indiana State & Challenge Cups Advance to Semi-Final Rounds

Congratulations to all teams that have advanced to the semi-final round of the 2007 State Cup and Challenge Cup!!

The brackets for all age divisions have been posted on the tournament pages and the schedule for the semi-final and final games will be posted by Friday, May 25th.

Any teams needing hotel accommodations for the semi-final rounds can find information about Ft. Wayne hotels at the following link: http://sitesearchllc.com/indianaStateCup/index.htm

Whether or not your team is advancing, Indiana Youth Soccer hopes that you had a fun and rewarding experience in the 2007 Indiana State or Challenge Cup preliminary round games this past weekend. Holding two such major tournaments at sites across Indiana is a major event. Each year the game schedule is completed after careful evaluation to ensure all variables are considered to reduce costs for teams - including minimizing costs associated with lodging and travel.

This year, the game schedule was completed and published in one week - 10 weeks prior to the event. This proved to be a mistake that had several unintended consequences. Much more than in recent years, the game schedule was changed due to fields being unplayable and other factors(field size concerns, time zone issues, travel time, etc). Your flexibility and help was greatly appreciated to ensure all the games were played - and they all were!

As the Tournament and Cup Committee reviews this year's event and plans for next year, it is important to get your feedback, as well as, that of host clubs, host site field supervisors, clubs with teams involved, referees, referee assignors, medical and security personnel, Directors of Coaching, team coaches, managers, players and parents. An online, web-based survey is being developed to assist everyone in providing an opportunity to help make this event better. Please watch for this survey to be released after the finals. Thank you in advance for your support - it is sincerely appreciated.

Over the past few days, the preliminary round game scores have been updated. If you still see any scoring or other errors, please notify the state office. The Tournament and Cup Committee is now working to complete the game schedule, which hopefully will be posted by Friday at the latest. Once again, the web site will clearly announce that the schedule has been posted.

For teams who are advancing, please remember that semi-final/final round entry fees in the amount of $175.00 per team must be received by the state office no later than Thursday, May 31st at 5:00 pm. For more information, see the Indiana Youth Soccer website or download the form below.

On behalf of the Tournament and Cup Committee and Indiana Youth Soccer, congratulations to all teams and many thanks to the coaches, managers, referees, volunteers and parents who make soccer possible for kids around the state! Thank you for all you do.
