Indiana Youth Soccer is proud to recognize the Evansville area soccer community for being named one of four finalist locations in the bid to host the 2008 and/or 2009 National Championship Tournament. Evansville joins Orlando, Florida Frisco, Texas and Little Rock, Arkansas as finalists.

The Evansville Area soccer US Youth National Local Organizing Committee (LOC) submitted a bid proposal this fall to be considered as a potential host site for upcoming National Championship Tournaments. The LOC includes representatives of local soccer organizations, Parks & Recreation department, the Vanderburgh County Visitor's & Convention Bureau, and Evansville city officials.

The city of Evansville and area soccer communities teamed up to welcome representatives of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Committee this week. The site visit gave the US Youth Soccer National Championship Committee an opportunity to tour the soccer facilities, meet key members of the LOC, and assess the many resources of the Evansville area.

The proposed field host location is Goebel Soccer Complex, a state-of-the-art facility with nine full size grass fields and one artificial turf field. The main field and five of the grass fields have lights for night play. Additional amenities include ample parking, concession stand, picnic areas and restroom facilities.

After visiting all finalist sites, the US Youth Soccer National Championship Committee may ask qualified sites for a more in-depth presentation and make a final recommendation in Spring 2007. Congratulations and good luck!
