Heads Up 2007 #4
In this issue of Heads Up, a variety of articles are offered for coaches. Now that we have hopefully got past the winter season, let the ball roll and players go!

This issue is packed with information for coaches, team managers, parents, and players.

In this issue, there is an updated version of the U9 Academy format for 2007. This U9 Academy Manual gives more information and covers philosophy, how clubs will register their players, format for Academy Days, FAQ's, sample curriculums, and articles relating to the rationale for the change.

A terrific article written by Gary Allen of the Virginia Youth Soccer Association is also in this newsletter.

Another article that appeared in the NSCAA Journal which gives an opinion of the development of soccer in our country.

An article on when it is appropriate to introduce heading to youth players by Sam Snow, who is the US Youth Soccer Director of Coaching.

There are also lesson plans for recreation and travel coaches.

For those coaches that like to be an observer during the match, there is a sample match analysis form that you can use.

This is the time of year when weather plays a factor and safety should be your number one priority for your players. There are several documents relating to heat, dehydration, storms, and cold weather guidelines courtesy of Minnesota Youth Soccer.

Indiana Youth Soccer has partnered with the Chicago Fire. This will not only benefit fans but coaches as well through this partnership.

Finally, if you haven't seen the amazing goal by Lionel Messi a few weeks ago here is a chance. Make sure that your players are gathered around the computer!!

Keep it fun!!
