The season starts off with a victory!

The Premier League has officially begun and what a weekend it was. We got off to the perfect start at Middlesbrough winning 2-1.


We didn't have it all our own way as they were on top of us for the entire first half.

Our manager had some words for us at half-time which obviously sparked something into the boys. We scored two fantastic goals...one a header from our new signing Roque Santa Cruz and another tremendous finish from Matt Derbyshire. Both of them were second half substitutes and both scored on nearly their first touches from coming on.

The last two seasons we had lost badly on opening day so this was a perfect way to start things off with an away win.

All the big teams had hard games and Manchester United dropped points at home. That was largely down to the goalkeeping of another American Marcus Hahnemann.

We are off to Finland Wednesday for our UEFA Cup game on Thursday against MYPA so it is all systems go. We follow that with a home game against Arsenal.

Let's also not forget our first years residence players arrive next weekend as well...soccer really is the world's beautiful game!!
