UEFA Campaign off on the right foot!

It looks as if we are off to a good start with our UEFA Cup campaign by winning our InterToto Cup tie 6-0 on aggregate.


It was a difficult match in Lithuania due to the conditions of the field as well as it was only our third pre-season match.

We had a much easier time of it at Ewood park especially when one of their players was red-carded in the first half.

It is hard to imagine but we only have two weeks until the premier league kick-off. We have just made a good buy in Roque Santa Cruz from Bayern Munich to bolster our already formidable attack.

If we keep focused and get off to a good start hopefully you'll see Rovers high up the league table and pushing for silverware in all three cup competitions we'll be in.

Changing gears a little but I must say I'm absolutley delighted with our merger with Cleveland United. It is time we stamp our authority on youth development and concentrate on training and developing our youth instead of over playing them and teaching them very little.

At young ages the kids must learn techniques first and not care about wins and losses. It will be an eye opening experience for some but all those affiliated within our club structure will benefit from some of the best coaching in the states as well as our state of the art facility. Mix this in with all the different cultures the kids will be exposed to, well, it just makes me excited to be part of it.
