• Played for George Mason University
• NCAA Final Four Tournament Team
• Player – Olympic Festival 1993
• High School All State in 1985-86
• Player for Indianapolis Saints (boys’ team)
• Assistant Women’s Coach for Butler and Indiana Universities
• Three-time College All-American

John McLachlan

• Played professionally in Scotland
• Helped start the Columbus Express Soccer Club
• President – Columbus Express Soccer Club
• First area coach to take a youth team to England
• Helped to create the recreational league in Columbus
• Helped to get varsity status for the Columbus High Schools
• State ODP Coach and age group coach at Regional Camp
• Coach of Columbus East and Columbus North High Schools
• Coach of Franklin College
• A scholarship was named for him in Bartholomew County

Jim Green

• Coach of first soccer team in Portage
• Helped form Northwest Indiana Youth Soccer League
• Helped form Portage Youth Soccer
• Coached U-10 team in 1st State recreational tournament
• Worked summer camps for Chicago Sting and Indiana University
• Helped form Indiana High School Coaches Association
• Coach of the Year for Indiana Soccer Coaches Association
• Coached in the Olympic Development Program
• Holds an “A” Coaching License
• Teaches Coaches Licensing Courses

Tom Van Meter

• ODP State Coach for girls for 4 years
• Coach at St, Mary’s College
• Volunteer Coach at Bethel College
• Founding member of Michiana Soccer Association
• Founding member of Jr. Irish Soccer Club
• Assistant Coach at Notre Dame 1975-83
• Executive Soccer Committee for Special Olympics
• Involved in first youth league in Ft. Wayne
• Won 2 Northern Indiana High School State Cups
• Indiana State Soccer Association Coach of the Year

Merit Award Winner: Birch Bayh

The first ever Merit Award goes to Birch Bayh for his authorship of the Title IX Legislation and its positive impact on female players throughout our state and nation.
